Even the slim margins he had seen were gone. He now had to learn to live as a blind man. In truth, he had already begun his education years before by using his sighted time so wisely. I too am beginning to navigate a new world. Although my sight is relatively intact, vision is not very useful to me in confronting the challenge of seeing into a blind world. I will need, at least in the beginning, a guide and a teacher to point out the nonsights along the way, to fill in my preliminary picture of life without vision.
